Amy Achor's Wild Woman Photos

Amy Achor

Amy B. Achor (pronounced “acre”) is an artist whose unique photographic imagery embraces many levels of seeing. Her images are complex, unusual, and visually stunning. Achor’s work is as much about “inner” vision as outer vision. Her finished pieces convey calm and excitement simultaneously, engaging the viewer on many levels. As her art reflects, she is drawn to and sustained by the beauty of nature. A long-time resident of Yellow Springs, Ohio, many of her photos capture the magnificence of Glen Helen Nature Preserve, John Bryan State Park, and other local environs.
Achor is currently most well-known for her symmetrical photo-compositions. These works consist of a single photograph combined with itself many times over to create an entirely new image. Look closely and you may notice tiny creatures or faces peering from behind leaves or through clouds. Achor likes to think of these “nature spirits” as intentionally inhabiting her art. Like all of her work, Achor’s photo-compositions originate from real photographs.
In addition to her nature pieces, Achor has created several other outstanding photographic series by photographing fire, light trails, and fireworks. She is continuously exploring new creative directions, and always has at least one new project “in the works.” With a lifelong passion for greeting cards, she has created several hundred cards by hand, and is currently working on a number of greeting card lines which she hopes to have published.
